"A lion never gives birth to a goat," a saying goes, and indeed, Prince Chinedu Uburu is a testament to this age-old adage. Fondly known as 'Afunwa Elota Nna', he embodies the values of leadership, integrity, and service, inherited from his esteemed lineage.

Birth and Early Life

Born on May 27, 1989, into the revered Eze Uburu dynasty in Onyirigbo Ishieke village, Ebonyi LGA, Ebonyi State, Prince Chinedu's destiny was sealed from the onset. His father, HRH Eze Augustine Uburu, a pioneer traditional ruler, left an indelible mark on his life, despite passing away when Chinedu was just a child.

Raised by his mother, Ugoeze Marcelina Uburu, he was instilled with the virtues of hard work, discipline, and integrity. As the saying goes, "the child who is handled with care, grows up to be a responsible adult."

Prince Chinedu's educational journey began at Onyirigbo Ishieke Community Primary School, followed by Folk Technical College, Onunwakpu Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo LGA, Ebonyi State.

Despite facing financial hardships, he excelled academically, driven by the conviction that "education is the key to success." He later gained admission to Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, where he studied Law, and subsequently obtained his qualifying certificate, BL, from Nigeria Law School, Bwari Abuja.

As a seasoned professional, Prince Chinedu has served in various capacities, leaving an enduring impact on the organizations he worked with. His experience includes stints at His Grace Chamber Abakaliki, Supreme Solicitors, and the Enugu State Ministry of Justice (NYSC).

A Leap into Public Service

In late 2022, Prince Chinedu answered the call to serve, contesting for the position of Chairman, Ebonyi LGA, on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC). His landslide victory was a testament to his popularity and the trust reposed in him by the people.

On June 28, 2022, he was sworn in as the Chairman of Ebonyi LGA, and subsequently re-elected for a second term in 2024.

A Leap into Public Service

Leadership and Achievements

As Chairman, Ebonyi LGA, and ALGON Chairman, Ebonyi State Chapter, Prince Chinedu has demonstrated exceptional leadership, driving transformative projects and initiatives. His administration has recorded significant milestones in:

  • Infrastructure development — constructing a modern secretariat complex at Ugbodo
  • Road construction — developing a 2.8-kilometer concrete road from Onyirigbo to Egwudinagu
  • Rural electrification — illuminating homes and livelihoods in over ten villages, installing 300KVA transformers
  • Education — constructing 6 classroom blocks with offices at Onyirigbo Ishieke, paying WAEC fees for students, providing writing materials to primary and secondary school students
  • Healthcare — constructing a Health Center at Oroke Onuoha
  • Infrastructure — building over 40 culverts
  • Security — providing mobility through a Seina bus and 100 motorcycles to local security agencies
  • Youth empowerment — the 'Operation 1 Youth, 2 Skills' program

His tenure has been marked by numerous awards and chieftaincy honors, a reflection of his dedication to serving the people. As he continues to lead with vision and purpose, one can only say, "the future is bright, and the people are proud."
